Pinoy Scientists

Pinoy Scientists is an online platform that gives a voice to scientists from the Philippines, with the tagline “Yes, we exist!” It profiles Filipino scientists at home and abroad, publishes longer features on topics like conservation and AI, runs a newsletter, and invites scientists to contribute their own stories. Its day-to-day storytelling happens on Facebook and Instagram, where it hands the page over to a different scientist each week in a “takeover.” The aim is to give young Filipinos role models who look like them and to show that a career in science is possible.

I took over the page from October 29 to November 4, 2023. Over the week, I shared my journey from the Philippines to Berlin and what a day in my research life looks like, with each day built around a theme:

If you are a Filipino scientist with a story to share, you can contribute to Pinoy Scientists, or follow the page to meet the scientists featured each week.
